At Stillwater Laboratories, we are passionate about learning, and we recognize the importance of opportunity and education for students who love it as much as we do. That’s why Stillwater Labs is proud to announce two new annual scholarships to be awarded to deserving Montana University System students!
One scholarship totaling $2500 will be awarded to one or more Native American students at the University of Montana Law School. Another will be issued to one or more undergraduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) students at Montana State University. Stillwater is committed to funding these scholarships for the next five years, and hopefully many more to come. We are proud to support the future of Montana through this fund.
Helping our nation’s Native American students is pivotally important to our goal of helping create a brighter future for Montana. With grants like ours, more returning Native students who wish to pursue law degrees will have the opportunity to do so. According to the American Bar Association, only 0.56% of students attending U.S. law schools identified as Native American or Alaskan Native as of 2018. Ultimately, fewer Native Americans pursuing law degrees means fewer trained lawyers representing the matters most important to Native peoples. As a state with the 5th highest per capita Native American population, Montanans witness the impact of this more than most Americans.
The STEM scholarship is designed to help aspiring undergraduates with a passion for their field to add to the growing culture of science and innovation at Montana State. Stillwater Labs proudly employs several Montana State STEM program graduates, and we look forward to continuing our positive relationships with both universities, and their students, for many years to come.
Scholarships have already been awarded at both schools to a total of five students for the 2021-2022 school year. We look forward to seeing Montana blossom as a hub of technology and innovation, and we are thrilled to participate and support that growth!
